Hello lovelies! I hope you are well. π
I’ve always been fascinated with astronomical things — space, the moon, stars and planets. I look forward to seeing the moon every night and even counting the stars visible within my balcony limits! When people ask me what would I be if I was not a Chef, my answer would always be an Astronaut. In another life where I really excel in science and/or math, I’d want to be Astronaut! hahaha π
So with that, this month’s theme is Astronauts in space. π©πΌβπ I planned to do a space theme in April, but I felt that I still didn’t have a cohesive idea of what I want it to look like, so I deferred a few months.

COVER PAGE
I drew an astronaut sitting casually on a crescent moon. And instead of a galaxy background, I chose to black out the entire page using black gouache and a white acrylic paint for the stars. I couldn’t decide how I want the month title to look like, but I wanted it very simple. I ended up stamping it using my Tools To Live By Typewriter Alphabet Stamps.

CALENDAR
My calendar format has not changed all year. So this one is no different except for the astronaut on the side giving a peace sign! I also blacked out this page because I wasn’t too happy how it looked with a white background.

HABIT & MOOD TRACKER
The habit tracker is the same format as that of last month’s. Then I used 2 space themed clear stamps for the space elements in my mood tracker.

WEEK 1 (August 1 – 2)
Since there are only 2 days remaining in this week, I decided to draw something bigger – a whale! π Cetus is a constellation and in Greek Mythology, is a sea monster, but it is sometimes referred to as the whale. I actually drew a whale on an envelope for my penpal and I really liked it. Coincidentally, I found out that it is a constellation, so I used it for my journal as well. This whale initially had an astronaut riding it, but I didn’t like how it looked so I left the astronaut out. This is the only page that doesn’t have one. π

WEEK 2 (August 3 – 9)
For the second week, I wanted to include the planets and came across a space illustration by @bumblebujo and I really liked how she had made the planets on her cover page. This is the uncolored version.

WEEK 3 (August 10 – 14)
This week, I drew these astronauts doing the E.T. finger pointing thing and I thought it’s really funny. I blacked out this page for the full effect. And by doing so, I messed up some of the previous pages because black gouache bled through them (example: the whale page).

WEEK 4 (August 15 – 23)
I found this vector while looking for photos and I kept going back to it. Aside from the more detailed version of an astronaut, it was also bordered with moon phases, which is what I was looking for. So although this astronaut is very different from the others, I still used it for this page.

WEEK 5 (August 24 – 31)
For the last week of the month, I chose these astronauts holding a sign. I’m not yet sure what I’ll write on it — could be a quote I’ll like or even welcoming the start of the -BER months — I’ll decide later on. π
NOTE: The astronaut illustrations are based off vectors and I’m not claiming them as my own. Thank you.
