June 2020 Bullet Journal Setup

Hello lovelies! πŸ™‚

Half the year has passed and I was mostly stuck at home! But let’s make things light and fun. For the past 6 months that I’ve setup my bullet journal, I’m happy to say that I did everything based on how I WANT my journal to be setup, not based on others’ work. The themes I’ve used so far are all based on the things I like or enjoy. And this month’s theme is no different. I created a list of themes that I want to do even before this year has started and this theme was scheduled in March. However, it didn’t work out logistically so I had to delay a few months. You’ll understand what I mean later. πŸ˜‰ Anyway, this month’s theme is carnival or an amusement park.

Personally, regardless of my age, I will continue to enjoy park rides! My favorites are roller coasters and the swing rides. I’m actually afraid of heights, but I do enjoy the thrill of a roller coaster ride. πŸ˜‰

Let me give you a little back story. So in January, while I was planning this theme, I also thought about making a roller coaster pop up card thing to go with it. So when I open my journal, out comes a roller coaster! Cool, right?! …But I couldn’t find a template or pattern that I really liked and was also free. So change of plans — the next in line was a carousel. I thought this would be easier and I also enjoyed riding carousels when I was younger so it wouldn’t really be a big deal. 😜

After an hour of scouring the interwebs, I finally found something good and it was free!!! So I downloaded the file and immediately printed it out. Note that this was late in the evening and I soon found myself cutting for hours. And the next thing I know, it was already 7 o’clock the next morning. 😬 Yes, I completed this in one go with only about an hour or two of rest in between. The assembly took a good hour and a half, too! It was chaos, but I was really happy I made it work! The cuts weren’t all perfect, but for a first timer, I’d say this was not too bad. πŸ‘πŸ»

By the way, I skipped the tiny details on some of the parts because it was too small and the paper I used was really thick so it was doubly hard to cut. Again, my hand was extremely sore after making this and I questioned myself if this was even worth doing for the second time! 😝 lol

Five months later, here I am at the end of my journal and it’s time to make this theme happen. Why you ask? If I had made this in March, I will be left with a bulky journal early on and it would be a pain to write on an uneven surface. Aaahh… makes sense now, huh.

This time around, I did a few things differently:
* I used watercolor paper about 200gsm, just a little lighter than the vellum board I used on the first try. This is the only other thicker type of paper I have at the moment so I can’t be picky.
* I was also able to cut out the little details, but I realized later on why this was a lot easier to do, and it’s not about the paper weight!
* And lastly, I divided the task into 3 days so my hand get to rest a little! πŸ˜‰

So what was the big blunder I didn’t take into account before I started working on the second carousel? Know that I only noticed something was wrong while I was assembling it. I didn’t scale down the template to fit my notebook, which I did the first time and which I also don’t remember doing because it was 4 months ago. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ hehehe So I will still end up using the first one for my journal because believe me, I’m not making a third one anytime soon!!! I will just find a use for the second one somehow. πŸ™‚

For the month title, I downloaded a carnival type font, printed it and colored it in. And that’s that. 😜

CALENDAR
I brought back the calendar this month coz I wasn’t too keen on the setup last month. This will still be a meal planner, of course. I only added a ticket booth on this page and used the same font and colors for the days of the week.

WEEKLIES
Since I already spent so much time on the cover page, I decided to make a one time, big time weekly setup! I drew an amusement park landscape covering 6 pages for all the weeklies. I cut off the upper parts of the pages to make this into a dutch door as well. I made this page as colorful as I can using different markers, but I would change some of the colors I used if I could. LOL This features some of my favorite rides, too!

So what do you think about my setup this month? πŸ™‚

I hope you are all safe and well always.
